How do you enter Azimuth angles

Post by seasdes » Sat Aug 09, 2025 3:18 am

I am using V3.32.3 on W11

How do you enter Azimuth angles I QCAD. I place a - sign in front of the angle (eg -223d25'15") but not sure if that is correct.

Hi,

Please refer to this related topic.
This functionality was added to what was already possible: Some examples by Andrew

From what I understand of it, 'Azimuth' and 'Bearing' have an overlapping meaning.
And that is that: North or zero degrees is up and that positive angles increase Clock-Wise.

Other not overlapping meanings largely depend on the field of interest.
For example:
  • 'Bearing 10' may mean 10 degrees to the right seen from the current forward direction.
Or where the 'Azimuth' may be a single point on certain map projections and the angle is expressed relative towards this point.

Remark or 'bear in mind' that the QCAD GUI displays angle values (mostly) in the Polar coordinate system.
Where zero degrees is right and positive angles increase Counter-Clock-Wise.

Regards,
CVH
