How to Scale drawings without changing dimensions

Qcad version: 3.31.1
Operating System: MAC Os version: Sequoia 15.6
Background: I am trying to produce some architectual drawings for submittal to the county for approval of a structure I plan to construct.
I have constructed the drawing, main structure and associated special detail information.
Now I am attempting to print the drawings on Ach D format paper, positioning multiple parts on each drawing.
Many of the parts are small and need to be scaled up so they can be recognized on the large sheet.
Problem: I go to "Edit - Drawing Preferences - Printing - Page" and set "Paper Size" to ARCH D, Scale 1:1.
Back to Drawing and choose "File- Print Preview"
Then "Center Drawing" and objects are to small to see.
I then attempt to scale the part to make it larger , that works. however the dimensions of the drawing change with the scaling.
How do I enlarge the part, so it can be seen on the Ach D formatted paper while maintaining the proper dimensions of the part.
I have watched all of the You Tube tutorials on Qcad, and after market ones, Searched the Forum for answers and still cannot understand how to do it.
Very frustrating, Great product, been using it for over 10 years however printing has been my downfall.
