Like "point on a line" I want to make "point on a cirkle".
On the icon there is a straight line and a curved line.
I can make the straight line but not the other.
What to do?
Best regards Flemming

Re: Points on a cirkle
Hi, and welcome to the QCAD forum.
Please specify the tool "point on a line" that displays points, a straight and a curved line on its icon.
I know of a few and that are for example Snap Middle and Snap Distance.
Snapping is an exact coordinate position for some drawing method.
When drawing point entities (PO) one can snap to these coordinates on existent entities (SM / SD).
"point on a line" or 'N Points on Line' (PN) has nothing to do with straight line segments.
It can be used with indicating both end coordinates of such a segment.
For points on a curve:
- Draw point on the curve.
- Select point.
- Copy/rotate point multiple times around the center for a given angle.
On a limited Arc you must figure out sweep divided by N points.
Easier and more correct is 'Split Entities' (MS).
Then store the new endpoints for adding points entities.
Undo the split and apply points at stored endpoints.

CVH

Re: Points on a cirkle
Thank you.
I'm a Qcad newbie
and the command "on entity"
looked so nice
to do some dots.
I will try one of your ways insted

Re: Points on a cirkle
Snapping 'On entity' is for a perfect nearby coordinate on the entity.
It is expected to work for all supported shapes.
A screen has but a limited number of pixels in a certain dpi.
It would be impossible to point to the exact location on some vector art with the cursor in any (deep) zoom level.
For that 'Snapping' to a nearby exact coordinate is an essential tool.
That can range from 'Free' (No snapping) to the distance intersection of 2 entities.
And some restrictions can be activated, see menu Snap.
These are also shown at the left when a coordinate input is required.
Typically 'Auto Snap' is active what is an hierarchical mix of all nearby positions.
You must point nearby the intended, 'Auto Snap' may revert to the nearby Grid point.
'Auto Snap' is configurable.
