I was working in print preview mode (model space) and was in the middle of an operation and hit some keystroke that turned the background gray (instead of white) and all the line thicknesses dissapeared (showing constant thin lines throughout).
I am unsure what mode I have accidentally gotten into, nor how to get back to a proper "print preview" with white background and line thickness. Screen-based line types are not enabled.
Any direction would be appreciated...I will continue poking around options

Most likely you have changed your drawing scale rather than switching to a different mode.
